Bohemia is the western part of what used to be Czechoslovakia. Now it is 2 countries - the Czech Republic, with Prague as the capital; and (in the east) Slovakia with Bratislava as capital. Both of these areas were part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire (two capitals - Vienna and Budapest) between 1815 and 1915.

You can see already why researching these parts of the world is never easy - in the last 100 years Bratisalva has been under the Austro-Hungarian Empire in Vienna, then under Prague (1920-1938), then Nazi Germany in Berlin (1938-1945), then back to Prague (1948-? 1994/5), and now an independent country [for the first time] with
Bratislava as capital.
