I discovered this and thought it migh be helpful to someone: The Landmark Newspaper, Statesville, NC June 15, 1950 Rites Thursday For Mrs. Gabriel Funeral services for Mrs. E. G. Gabriel, who died in Washington, D.C., Tuesday morning, will be held this afternoon at three o’clock from Race Street Methodist Church and interment will be in Oakwood. Rev. J. C. Grose and Rev. E. W. Fox will conduct the services. Mrs. Gabriel’s body will arrive in Statesville today and will remain at the chapel of the Nicholson Funeral Home until the hour of the funeral. The former Zettie Mae Sherrill, Mrs. Gabriel was the daughter of the late Martha Augusta Sherrill and James Wate Sherrill of this county and was born May 21, 1875. She was married on the 25th of December, 1894 to Mr. Eddie Garland Gabriel of Iredell county and in 1919 they came to Statesville to make their home. Mr. Gabriel died in November 1944. Since his death Mrs. Gabriel has spent most of her time with her children and has been in Washington with her daughter, Mrs. J. A. Gabrys, during the recent months. She had been sick for six weeks but her death came unexpectedly Tuesday morning in a Washington hospital. Mrs. Gabriel joined the Race Street Methodist Church when she came to Statesville to live in 1919 and was a faithful member, Surviving here are five children: Mrs.Gabrys of Washington; Mr. C. A. Gabriel, member of the Statesville Fire Department; Mrs. C. F. Claywell of Portsmouth, Va.; Mrs. S. C. Sidelinger of Mt. Ranier, Md., and John W. Gabriel of Roanoke Rapids. There are five sisters and four brothers; Mrs. Tom Stutts, Mrs. S. L. Thompson, Mrs. Nellie Hair, Messrs. Glen, Otho, and Gilmer Sherrill, all of Mooresville: Mrs. Gladys Crowell of Charlotte, Mrs. Henry Munday of Sherrill’s Ford and Karl Sherrill of Newton Notify Administrator about this message?
