Sophia Gabrion Jeffers
The subject of this sketch was born of French parentage in New Hampshire Jan 31, 1827 and died at Belleville, NY October 14, 1904. She came to Jefferson County in 1845 and had lived at Belleville for the past fifteen years. For nearly a half century she had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. She was the mother of seven children of whom four are now living; James Erwin of Fredrick, So. Dakota; W.B Jeffers of Bishop Street; Miss A. E. Jeffers of Sackets Harbor and Mary A. who lived with her mother. After twenty-one weeks of continued illness during which she received the most tender and loving care from her daugthers she fell asleep on the night of October 14. She was a kind friend, good neighbor, faithful Christian. She will be missed, not alone by her own dear ones, but by the church and her many friends.
