Gach Y-chromosome DNA

It is now possible to trace family relationships through DNA and as only males carry Y-chromosome DNA it is being used to confirm relationships between families bearing the same surname. In 2004 I gave a Y-chromosome sample to a research project at www.smgf.org . It was free and painless and I hope that any males bearing the surname GACH who read this will be interested enough to go to that website and request a test kit [to collect some cells from the inside of the mouth]. The test participant would then return the kit to the lab along with a four generation [minimum] male line family tree. SMGF puts the results in their data bank which can then be accessed for comparison.
