Dear Tiare, The message you read concerning Denis Gacquin and Mary Flynn is just one link between the Gacquin and Flynn families of that area. A Patrick Gacquin of Corracoolia in the same parish was married to an Ann Flynn(1841-1907). I do not know how closely related Patrick Gacquin[husband of Ann Flynn(1841-1907)] and Denis Gacquin[husband of Mary Flynn (1825-1901)] were but the two Flynn ladies could be related to each other and probably were. They could be sisters or it is possible that Mary was aunt of Ann, or they may have been cousins. The Grifith Valuation shows only three Flynn families in Taghboy parish on the county Galway side, Bryan Flynn and John Flynn in Muckloon they shared a farm so were either brothers or cousins and Thomas Flynn living in Killaderry. This last man is certainly the one where your Fitzgerald family married into. So Thomas Flynn is certainly an ancestor of yours. It should be possible to determain your exact relationship to Thomas if you know when Mr Fitzgerald married Miss Flynn. This can be checked out in the parish Register if it happened after 1850 and with greater certainty if it happened after 1864. Muckloon and Killaderry are two distinct townlands, as far as I know they are side by side but they were seperate propertys and had different landlords in the nineteenth century. Hope this is of some help to you on the Flynn family. Sincerely, William Gacquin Notify Administrator about this message?
