Hello Stewart. Please let me introduce myself. My name is john Ludden from St.Helens. My great grand mother, who I was very close to, was Mary Ellen Gauckwin. My great grandfather was Michael Gauckwin from Roscommon. I think you know my mum, joan and keep in touch with her from time to time. Just stumbled on this site and I am enlightened regarding the theories around the origins of the Gauckwin name. No wonder I could'nt find it on any English census.Anyway, just thought I would say hello, seeing as we have the same great grandparents. We visited Galway, Mayo and a little bit of Roscommon 2 years ago and had a great time. I have a daughter aged 12,named Erin.
