Eileen, good to hear from you. Don't worry - we here are under no illusions about the real strength and resolve of the American people. You can pull through this and lead the free world against this sort of threat. My grandfather, William Gauckwin evacuated France at Dunkirk at the beginning of the last war. Britain nearly went under - and would have done were it not for the support of the US and some very brave men and women.

My grandfather , along with many other British, American and Canadian soldiers landed on the Normandy beaches on 6th June 1944. We haven't forgot that the USA's people and resources made that possible - you have many friends and Allies as well as critics, although allies sometimes like to criticise!

I think the World is very different now though, there are a lot more players. I hope America can lead a united group of nations against terrorism.

I wish you and your leaders well in the difficult days ahead, best wishes from this side of the Atlantic.
