I believe that there may be some confusion as to the mother of Amanda Cross Gadberry. The 1850 census for Putnam Co. Indiana lists Margaret Cross/Crause/etc. b. 1800 VA living with Alfred and Amanda Cross Gadberry. Margaret Cross is listed on the 1860 census still living with Alfred and Amanda Gadberry in Cumberland County, Illinois. Mary Johnson Cross is listed on the 1850 Daviess County census living with her youngest children and her brother James Johnson. In 1860 Mary Cross is still in Daviess County but now living with her son Clarington Cross (Crop) in Harrison Twp. Next door is Mary's brother Hiram Johnson and family and the next family is Anthony Johnson and family. Margaret Cross and Mary Johnson Cross were two different people. I have found no connection of Margaret Cross with the family of Mary Johnson Cross at this time. I would appreciate any help trying to find if there was a connection. Possibly sister-in laws?
