My great grandmother was Martha S. Henson b.1856 Casey Co. She married John W. Price on April 25, 1875 in Casey Co. I descend from their daughter, Lucy C. Price, b.1890 Casey Co. All the books published for Casey County marriages show her maiden name as Hudson, which is wrong. After years of needless research, I viewed the actual microfilm from Casey County court house records filmed by LDS. The handwritten transcript shows her maiden name as Hudson. However, when I viewed the actual court house filmed documents, it clearly shows her maiden name to be Martha S. HENSON, and not Hudson. This record can be found in Book 1, Page 108 of Casey Co 1875 Marriages.
I don't know where or when John and Martha Price died. They were in Casey census records, 1880, 1900, and in Boyle County, 1910. After 1910, they are nowhere to be found.
Three of the children of John and Martha Price show Martha's maiden name as GADBERRY instead of Henson.
I would like to know if anyone has any information on the Martha S. Gadberry, age 4, in 1860 census that appears in the household with Andrew and Sarah Gadberry of Casey Co.
1860 Casey Census:
Andrew Gadberry - Age 55
Sarah - Age 54
Polly J. - Age 28
George W. - Age 25
Martha E. - Age 15
James M. - Age 10
Martha S. - Age 4 - Could be my g-gma
It would seem unlikely Andrew and Sarah would have two daughters named Martha. I'm wondering if the second Martha (age 4) could be the daughter of Polly J. Gadberry. I've ran across some researchers that think she is the daughter of George W. and Polly J. Gadberry. That Geo is their son and Polly a daughter-in-law. However, it would appear to me that George and Polly are both children of Andrew and Sarah Gadberry.
Because 1850 Casey census shows Andrew and Sarah (Susan) Gadberry children: Jonathon (21), Polly (16), Geo W (15), Martha E (5), and James M.(1).
Living 4 homes down the road is the Elisha Henson and Elizabeth (Betsy Clifton)Henson family. One of their sons, Joseph Henson, age 18 yrs. Could it be that Joseph Henson fathered Martha S. Gadberry, and that Polly J. Gadberry is Martha's mother?? That would account for Martha's maiden name appearing as Henson in the Casey marriage records, and the fact that Martha's children remember her as being a Gadberry.
Maybe somebody has information concerning this problem I'm having. Was Martha S. Price's maiden name Henson or Gadberry???? I'm really against a brick wall.
