I have traveled to Shirley AR twice looking up information. Going by the census of 1870 and their marriage date you would think Georgia was the daughter of Jesse's first wife. We thought that until we got her dc and it has Rhoda as her mother. Also her grandson who is 80 something says she is positively a Gadberry. They always teased her younger brother saying she acted more like a Cook than a Shipp. I was told by another Gadberry researcher that Ishum Cook died during the Civil War. He had gotten that information from his grandmother and did not have a date. All I know is that Ishum Cook and Jesse Shipp's first wife Elizabeth died between 1860 and 1870. Jesse and Rhoda were married in 1868 and Georgia was born in 1866. I tend to believe my cousin in that Georgia was a Gadberry. I believe Jesse and Rhoda had to wait to get married because of the $100 dollar bond. Judgeing by Jesse's will he didn't have two nickels to rub together. I am trying to prove this belief.
