Gadds in Saskatchewan in 1900's
I am a Gadd.My grandfather was Benjamin John Gadd, son of David Gadd from Somerset. He had numerous siblings but came to Canada with brothers Hubert and Arthur. There were other brothers, one being a Stanley and a sister Elsie.Benjamin John (he went by John) married a woman with the last name of Young, before coming to Canada. She then died with scarlet fever and Irene Young, her sister, came to take care of infant Don Gadd.John then married her and had 3 more boys, Melvyn, Ernie and Kenneth.Melvyn is my dad.Melvyn and Don are interested in the family history.John's mother may have run a tavern or owned one. They also farmed in Somerset. The brothers that came to Canada farmed in the Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan area. John may have left the family in Somerset over a dispute concerning a pig.Any information would be appreciated.
