I don't know anything about Elizabeth Gafford, but there were 2 Fanny GAFFORDS.
#1 -- Frances GRANT (dau. of Daniel GRANT; Daniel d. 1793, Wilkes Co., GA) married Stephen GAFFORD.
Frances GRANT & Stephen GAFFORD had a son, Thomas GAFFORD who m. Frances WILLIS (Fanny GAFFORD #2).
Thomas GAFFORD d. c. 1806, Wilkes Co., GA, and his widow Fanny (who apparently didn't remarry), age 70 (1780) shows up in the household of her daughter (from Fanny's first marriage to James BALLARD) and son-in-law, Thomas & Sophia SMITH in the 1850 Talbot Co. census. I've not found any children for Frances WILLIS & Thomas GAFFORD.
I wish this was of some use in the search for Elizabeth, but I hope it might be helpful in sorting out the various Fanny GAFFORDs.
Of course, what's making me curious now is the closeness in age of Fanny, wife of Stephen GAFFORD and Fanny, wife of Thomas GAFFORD. I don't know if Fanny, wife of Thomas, might have been lots older than her husband, or if Stephen GAFFORD might have had a prior wife who was the mother of Thomas.
