This William M. Gafford was a brother to my husband's grandfather. I have quite a bit of info on family I'll be glad to share with you.

William was born in 1860. He's on the 1860 Milam County, Texas census with his parents and uncles, etc. He was 1/12 at that time. (Page 033) Father's name was Mathew, mother's name Mary Ann.

I've not been able to find family for 1870 census. They left Milam County about this time and relocated to Freestone County, so I assume they were "on the road".

He and Amanda are on the 1880 Freestone County, Texas census (with Adalee) near his parents. Vol. 12, ED52, Sheet 38, Line 32. Adalee was 4 months old at the time.

We assume he and Amanda divorced. My husband recalls seeing where she remarried in Limestone County, Texas I believe it was. William remarried in Henderson County, Texas 1n 1889 to a Mary Stephens.

If you want further information, please let me know. My E-mail address is magafford@prodigy.net
