I just found the GAFFORD GernForum yesterday.
My gggg-grandmother is Ann GAFFORD (I think I've seen a different first name in some cases) who married my gggg-grandfather Ephraim NORTHEN. Maybe in Georgia, maybe in Alabama. I have no information at all on Ann. Ephraim's is sketchy. He was born 27 Jan 1802 in Georgia (maybe Jones Co.) and probably died there in Jones Co., GA.
Ephraim had 1 child, a son, William Stephen NORTHEN, born in Jones Co., GA and died 29 Apr 1855 in Alabama.
Ephraim's father was William NORTHEN, b. 19 Feb 1743/44 in RIchmond Co., Virginia. William married Margaret DICKEN, b. 6 Jun 1753. They migrated from VA to Edgecombe Co., North Carolina, and then on to GA. First to Powellton (town no longer exists) which I believe was in Hancock Co., GA. He died in Jones Co., GA.
The only other "information" I have is that after Ephraim died she remarried, maybe more than once, and at some time moved to Texas where she died. Her grandson, George Washington NORTHEN, moved to Bell Co., TX in the late 1870s.
Does any of this sound familiar to anyone? I hope so. Any
information would be greatly appreciated.
