Hi, Debbie. I have no known connection to you but I will let you know if I find one. I have just started researching a branch of my Updegraphs that our Anna, b. between 1800 and 1830, appears to have married a Gahagan. I see it is also spelled in some census material the way you have it, as well as Gaghagen, Gahagen, etc. My research is in the Western PA area, in Butler and Lawrence Counties. The only info I have so far is a Civil War pension record of her sister's husband where Rachel Gahagen signs an affidavit and within a year before in companion documents had signed as Rachel Updegraph. We didn't know we had a Rachel, but we had an Anna, and Anna's sister named her daughter Rachel Ann, and she went by Anna. Just letting you know it's tenuous. But the reason I responded to your query, besides that fact that you said maybe PA, is that we have Householders in the area, too. I'm hot on the trail of two of Rachel Anna Gahagan's sisters right now but will keep your posting on file and if I ever find anything I'll let you know. When you said possibly PA, do you have any clue it could be Southwestern PA?

Good luck!
Nancy Dee Updegraph
