My great-grandmother was known as 'Nellie' Gahagan 1862-1926. (Her given name may actually have been Ellen.) She, four younger siblings, and an older half-sister grew up in Winfield Twp., Sauk Co. WI. Mother was Mary Taugher 1829-1901. (First husband named Rogan). She/they may have been from Co. Galway. Father was Cornelius Gahagan (1827-1873). They are buried in St. Patrick Cemetery, Winfield Twp. There is at least one other Gahagan grave there. I assume there is a relationship. The name (working from memory) may be Thomas, born about 1817. I know nothing further about Cornelius, except that he died when he was kicked in the chest by a horse in his barn. I have been unable to connect him to any other Gahagan's. I know that there are a large group of Gahagan's in Sheboygan Co., WI. Four brothers from Co. Roscommon settled in the area. There was also a group of Gahagan's in Rock Co, WI, but I do not know whether there is a connection to the Sheboygan Co families. Still searching.
