Thanks again for the response. I would be thrilled if you have the name Cornelius in any of your research! I have been searching years for a connection to other Gahagan's. Once again, he emigrated from Ireland by 1860, as his first child (my great-grandmother) was born 1861. She is listed in a later census as having been born in Iowa (probably Clinton Co, IA according to family stories). The next child was born in Wisconsin three years later.
