Ruthenians in Bosnia
Hello,
I am researching the origins of the population in a small area of Bosnia and I have encountered a few Ruthenian families and would like to do more research on them.I know the families were from Galicia as there was no colonization in Bosnia of people from Transcarpathia or Bukowina. However, my issue is that the former Yugoslav administration wrote all Ruthenian names phonetically according to the rules of then-Serbo-croatian standard language, so I have no idea what the original or current Ukrainian spelling might be.
The two names are spelt in Yugoslav census records as Kalvarešin and Kovaljesko. The "š" is pronounced as the English digraph "sh" and the "j" is pronounced as the English "y."Does anyone have any idea what these names would actually be in Ukrainian?Either in Latinic(Ukrainian National transliteration) or in original Cyrillic(which I read)?
Thank you in advance.
