Thanks, I had found your sight a while back. I asked my father and he confirmed that it was "Gib" (like Gibson)I'll try to look at the family bible the next time I visit my grandma in Alabama and send you what I find, but that will probably be in Dec. since I live in Fla. Anyway I do appreciate your work on the family tree. It has been alot of help. I know you are aware of Mettmenstetten, but are you aware of Gallmannsweil, Germany and Gallmannsegg, Austria? Are you aware of the Gallmanns in Elsass(Alscace) France. This could be our place of origin before Switzerland. Gallmanns seem to be located in the former areas of the Hapsburg family, which also had it's origins in Elsass before moving to Switzerland.I've been very curious to see if our family had any thing to do with the capturing of the knights of Eschenbach, who participated in the assasination of Albrecht I. (the second Hapsburg Holy Roman Emperor)Gallmans Seem to be located in the areas where the Eschenbah knights had land granted to them, mostly by the Hapsburgs, before they betrayed Albrecht. All of their family members were killed as revenge, there were over a 1000 killed, I think our family probably were in the service of the Hapsburgs.Evidence points to our family being of lesser nobility. If by chance you find any thingon this topic, please send it to me. ---Chris G.
