Ho do you do, Gerard Murphy. Well, you busted my bubble with your reply here for DNA testing for male decendents only. My G Grandfather John Galvin (b 2 May 1847 Waterford) married his wife, Alice Brennan (b 1853 bally duf West, Waterford Cty). Before sailing off for fall River, Ma where they were wed. And what a eautiful Catholic family, they had indeed, a big strong son, Michael Pierce and than seven lovely daughters. Michael, married an also, lovely maiden, a Elizabeth Riley, and also in Fall River, Ma, and they too, had a family any fine Catholic could be proud of. Two wonderful sons, and a beutiful daughter. And here comes my problem. They grew up to be the Rev. Father John Galvin of the Fall River Diocese, who also was a teacher at St Mary's Seminary in Baltimore, Md. His brother, Rev. Father William Galvin also served in the Fall River Diocese as a Chaplain at the Catholic Old Age Home and as a member of the Diocese Marriage Tribunal. So, there go all the remaining DNA sources from my male ancestry. And to top things off further, their lovely daughter, Mary was to later be known as Sr. Mary Olga, RSM (Sisters of Mercy) as a teacher and later as Chair of the English Department at the Salve regina University run by her Order in Newport, Rhode Island. So, I guess you would say, no DNA testing for me on the Galvin side of my family. But perhaps, this info might provide a further background of the family's history prior to John and Alice.
