Marie: I am a Gandy researcher who keeps records on all of Edward Gandy SR NC descendants.
I found documentation on Amos and John at www.gandybooks,com/amos.html I don't now if this is still an active link.
It features Edward Gandy (Major) will which names Amos as his natural son. Also names her proof that John is Amos' son.

Also, I corrospond with one Charlotte Patterson who is also a descendant of Amos and John Gandy, she send me pic of Amos and his, John's and Elizabeth's tombstones.
John successed his Father Amos as sheriff in Nash Co NC .
