Carol, I am very glad that you responded to this post. I think we can be of help to one another. You DO have the right family. Julia was one of those 2 children of Gabriel and Sarah that my gggrandfather Noah Hardy received guardianship of in 1862. I even have recently received some of his reports on the accounts for these children from Noxubee Co. records. I was hoping I could find out more about Julia and Sarah as I know nothing about them after his guardianship report. His family was in Richland Parish LA in 1870 and the girls were not with them. I noticed you have that Julia died in LA. Iam very anxious to hear more from you.
H.N. Bishop was the father of Gabriel. For years researchers had thought that Noah Hardy's wife was a daughter of H.N. Bishop and sister of Gabriel. I got to diggin in this and believe that now I have enough evidence to indicate that his wife was a sister of Sarah F. Gandy Bishop rather than of Gabriel.
According to the abstract of guardianship records,Gabriel died in May 1862 and Sarah had died in 1854 and when these papers were dated in Aug. of 1862, Noah Hardy was lsited as brother-in-law of Sarah and next of kin to the minors I have numerous papers that I will be glad to share and hope you can enlighten me on Julia's history.
