I am also descendent of Sidney Gardiner--if you search Fletcher and Gardiner you will find that Gardiner died of yellow fever..F & G were very famous for their silverwork. I have a copy of his son's (John Hampden Gardiner)obit. and photo of John's four daughters(Helen Masters Gardiner m.Henry Arthur Conover whose son James Scott Conover m.Mary Bernadette Dwyer whose daughter Mary Conover was my mother) Do you have names of the other three daughters- the obit did not even have their names or the fact that John's only son (Hampden Sidney Gardiner d.1884 at N.Pole with Greely Expedition)The book ABANDONED tells the story and photo of Hampden looks alot like my cousin Joseph Gardiner Conover. Another book Ghosts of Cape Sabine by Guttridge is more complete. Do you know about Col John H. Gardiner's service in Rush's Lancers during the civil war? He was injured at White Oak Swamp, got pension and his wife was taken care of by the pension until she died in early 1900's
