Jan,
We are talking about the same Henry Clay GARLINGTON. The Garlington Book by Thesta Scogland says that the dates I quoted to you were from a Family Bible and the dates you have came from Death Certificates. Do you have the Scogland book? I could send you some of the pages that have to do with your line. Also, it appears that Henry Clay was married before he was married to Frances JAMES. To a __?__ GODWIN. We think that our Mary J. GARLINGTON is Henry Clay GARLINGTON's sister. Our Bible records show her born 06MAR1850, but the 1870 census shows her b.1847. She should have been married before the 1870 census(10SEP1868)to John Lane BURROUGH. Why she was living at home in 1870 we don't know. BUT...we have been unable to find John and Mary J. BURROUGH listed anywhere in any other census for that year, as of yet, anyway.
Let me know if you would like some pages from the book sent to you.
Dolores Davis
