I noted your post while browsing this forum for the first time today. My information is extremely limited regarding Garlington. However, from my Salter research I have a reference to a Nancy Garlington who is stated to be a daughter of Samuel Salter, son of James Salter who was a soldier of the Revolutionary War, and wife Mary (Polly) Cummins. I believe Samuel Salter lived in Bartow, Jefferson County, GA, and then later removed to AL by 1815.

I'm not sure whether this helps or not, but if you are interested send me an e-mail and I will give you the citation and source for this information.
