Another point that shows an error in the 1870 census is as follows:
Jesse Washington Garlington was born June 21, 1869 in Louisiana. His mother was Mary Smith. His widow listed no father's name on his death certificate. He is found in the Texas census living with his brother Henry Clay Garlington who at the time was single. Since Henry Clay (same age) is the son of John Garlington, shouldn't Jess have shown up in the census record if it was done correctly?
