Jo Ann, sorry I am so late responding. Genforum did not notify me of your message.
I believe she was definitely a Claughton because he leaves his share of Richard Cloughton's dower to his children. But, I now show his wife to be Mary Claughton based on the following explanation from another researcher:
"Michael, Just found your post on Genforum. I believe that the wife of Thoams Cralle was a Claughton. His will leaves his share of the dower of the estate of Richard Cloughton to his (Thomas') children. In the will he spells his son William's middle name Clayton.
"tis my will and desire that all the property to me as legatee of the estate of Richard Claughton and which will be at the decease of Ann Claughton, relict of the said Richard Claughton, shall be equally divided among my children in manner aforesaid."
I am reasonably sure that his wife was a daugther for Richard and Ann Lewis Claughton. I am going with Mary Since she is about the correct age and they named one of their daughters, Mary,"
I have a transcript of his will. Do you need it?
