Hi Dolores,

Now that you mention that it was really the 1870 Census, there is a possibility that your "Herbert" could be my (John) "Hubbard" Garlington. As indicated in my first posting, all I know about my John Hubbard Garlington is that he was born before 1825 (date from an LDS web page)and when he left Mississippi (about 1860-1861), he first went to Arkansas and eventually to Louisiana where his wife, Dinna (Brister) Garlington died (sometime before 1 Aug 1871). I have only a hunch that they lived in Calcasieu Parish, but no proof.

That is all I know about this, my one and only Garlington. I have absolutely no indication of where and how he fits into any Garlington family groups. Over the years, in my search for this Garlington, I have accumulated and kept a good bit of Garlington genealogical information and there is a chance that some of it might be of assistance to you, but I do not know what your Garlington brickwall is.

Does any of what I have mentioned about John Hubbard Garlington suggest any research directions to you, Dolores?
