According to the Thesta GARLINGTON book she refers to him as Herbert or Hebert because she is taking that from the 1870 census for Calcasieu Parish LA. Now, according to her book, he is the son of Christopher GARLINGTON (she calls him (VI)and in some records he is referred to as Junr.). She does that to keep all the Christophers straight and it works very well. Christopher GARLINGTON (VI) was b.ca.1790 SC and m.25MAR1813 in Amite Co. MS to Hannah ADAMS. I don't have any info about Hannah. I will double check the book, but I think we have our work cut out for us with her, as well. Do you have any of John Hubbard GARLINGTON's children listed? Or do you just have your direct line?
Anyway, back to the line of Ancestors. You might have guessed that Christopher (VI) is the son of Christopher GARLINGTON (V). And his wife was Sarah YOUNG. And of course, there was before that Christopher GARLINGTON (IV) and his wife Miss YOUNG. <--not too specific, is it? And before that there was Christopher GARLINGTON (III)b.ca.1684 in Northumberland County, VA m. 05MAY1724 Elizabeth CONWAY. Next is Christopher GARLINGTON (II) and Margaret JONES, the daughter of Robert JONES, Sr. and his wife Martha LEWELLYN. And then there is the immigrant, Christopher GARLINGTON (I) and his first wife, but her name is unknown.
This is pretty sketchy, but I have more. I will leave you e-mail about getting the other stuff to you. I am SO PLEASED about all this!!!
