Yes, that is the question! If I use the GARLINGTON book to search for other Mary GARLINGTONs who might be the daughter of some of the GARLINGTONs living in the Louisiana 1870 Census, then all of the "other" Marys are accounted for. But is the GARLINGTON books information complete? I have no way of proving that one way or the other. The other problem is that we (other researchers and I) cannot locate John Lane BURROUGH in the 1870 census. That might solve a multitude of problems. We are still working on this.
Most all of the dates in the Hebert/Herbert GARLINGTON 1870 census seem to be OFF by about 2 years, so that does not perturb me, but there is SO LITTLE other information to go on.
