Yes, I have checked the 1870 LA census several times. There are no other Marys that fit the bill. I don't take that to mean much because she was SUPPOSED to be married by then.
Why might she be living with her father, if in fact, Hebert/Herbert IS her father? The only hint we have at all is that there is a family tradition that at some point Mary's husband, John L. BURROUGH went away to work on "the river." We don't know for sure if that could have been the Mississippi River or perhaps the Sabine River. She should have been listed in the census under her married name (even if she was living with her father), but that 1870 census is such a mess of wrong information, that I don't attribute that mistake as anything.
