What I have on John and Elizabeth is the following: My husbandI descends from John's brother George who married Rebecca Bitzer. They were 2 sons of Johannes (John) and Barbara Garman (Johannes and Barbara were both born in Lancaster County and died in Dauphin County and are both buried at Shoops Church Cemetery). Not 100% certain how many children John and Barbara had, but from various censuses, it could be 8 children. The father, Johannes was born Mary 24, 1760 in Earl Twp in Lancaster and died Sept 1, 1822. He married Barbara (last name unknown) about 1870. Barbara was born November 10, 1759 and died March 2, 1835. This from records at Shoops. They are on the 1790 and 1800 censuses for Earl Twp and the 1810 census for Lower Paxton and John is on the 1820 census for Susquehanna Twp in Dauphin. The names of their known children are Samuel(1781-died after 1850) married Magdalena Huy, then Catharine ______ (7-9 children from these marriages). They are found in the 1850 Census for Reed Twp, Dauphin on page 100 (family 27). Brother George was born March 17, 1783, married about 1804 and died Sept 22, 1841. He married Rebecca Bitzer, a daughter of Michael Bitzer, and they had 9 children, 7 of whom reached adulthood). Rebecca can be found in the 1850 census for Harrisburg on page 17, family 273, living with her youngest child, Lydia. A known daughter of Johannes and Barbara was Magdalena, born sometime between 1785 and 1790. And another known son was Jacob, born Feb 21, 1797, married Elizabeth Ettinger, then Elizabeth Brightbill, daughter of Henry Brightbill and Elizabeth Hertzer. There were at least 10 children born of these marriages. Jacob died Jan 8, 1868 and is buried with his wife & a number of his children in the Paxton Cemetery in Susquehanna Twp in Dauphin. Your John was born in 1784 and married Elizabeth Barringer(1792-1851) in 1811 at Zion LUtheran Church in Harrisburg. She was a daughter of Michael Barringer and Elizabeth Rheem.
