Mrs. Caroline Bracken Garman, the widow of the late Peter Garman, and up until two years ago, a prominent resident of Indiana, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Tweet Burhenn, of Jeannette, Monday evening, March 11, at 8:10 o'clock, aged seventy years. She underwent a severe operation in a Pittsburgh hospital last November, and although never fully recovered, her death came as a distinct shock to her children and many friends. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Bracken and was born in Blacklock township. She was married to Peter Garman about fifty years ago. She was an active member of the Presbyterian church and was prominent in social and charitable affairs, and made many friends, who sincerely regret her death. She leaves these children: Mrs. Emma Kirkendall of Spokane, Washington; Mrs. Tweet Burhenn, and Harry Garman, of Jeannette; Mrs. John Daugherty and Mrs. Malvina G. Riddle, both of Indiana. The remains will be brought to the Daugherty home on the 2:12 train today. The funeral servicces will be held tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 o'clock by Reb. Dr. F. Swartz Crawford, pastor of the Presbyterian church, assisted by Rev. W.L. McCune of the Jeannette Presbyterian church. Interment will be made in Greenwood cemetery.

From the Indiana Democrat of March 13, 1912 (page 1)
