1929 obituary of Frank P. Garman of Tyrone, Blair, Pa

Frank P. Garman, well known Tyrone merchant, head of the firm of Garman & Sons, died yesterday morning at 11:30 o'clock at his home, 109 Ninth street, of a complication of diseases. Mr. Garman had been ill for some time and recently had a number of severe heart attacks but had been able to be out and around. He had gone to his farm home at Warriors Mark valley and had been there a week or ten days when he became ill and with Mrs. Garman returned home.

Frank P. Garman was a son of Peter and Lucinda Dunkle Garman. He was born at Garman's Mill, Cambria county, Feb. 20, 1858, where he resided the greater part of his life, coming to Tyrone in 1901 where he started in the general drygoods business.

On Jan 13, 1880, he was united in marriage with Miss Elizabeth Fowler of Penn Run who, with these sosn and daughters, survive: Leo L. Garman, Harvey Garman of Tyrone, Jay S. Garman of Monessen and Mrs. J. L. Charles of Tyrone. He is also survived by one brother and sister, Daniel Garman of Barnesboro, Mrs. Drucilla Douglas of Commodore, and one half-brother and these half-sisters: Harry Garman of Jeannette, Mrs. Malvina Riddle of Beaver, Mrs. Harvery Kirkdahl of Spokane, Wash., Mrs. John Daugherty of Indiana and Mrs. Tweet Burnen of Jeanette.

Mr. Garman was a member of the Presbyterian church. Funeral services will be held at the home on Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Joseph A. Speer. Interment will be made in the family lot in Grandview cemetery.
