In Reply to: Australian Garmony/Garmany Family by William John Garmony (John) of 87

MY name is Alfred Garmany, I am living in Greer South Carolina. My Great-Great-Great Grandfather came to the United States in 1777 or 1778 from Monaghan County, Ireland. His name is John Garmany.
Here is some of the information that I have in my Family tree book.
"In 1775 there was at least one family of Garmany's in Monaghan, Ireland. They gave five acres of land for a presbyterian church, known today as Garmany Grove Church. I have written to the clerk of this church to try to get the names of the first members, but maybe due to the fighting going on there I have not received an answer altho my check was cashed.
According to a Doctor Garmany in London, England there is only one Garmany still in Monaghan, Grace Garmany. A Hans Garmany went to Sidney, Australia. The others came to the United States of America. We do know John Garmany came to South Carolina in the mid 1700 with two Brothers. I have not been able to prove just who the Brothers were.
We know there was a Hugh Garmany in New Berry district, South Carolina in 1790 who handled some of John's business transactions"
I have no informatiom on who their parent's were. That is about all I have. I know that somewhere down the line we are all related but it is hard to know how.
Let me hear from you.
Alfred Garmany
