Chris and Debbie,
I have a fairly detailed family tree for your branch of the GARNETT family from around Harwich in Essex, England.
From this family tree I can tell you both that you are distantly related to each other. Your common set of ancestors are Daniel GARNETT [1810-?] and his wife Sarah Ann CLARK [1818-1864].
This Daniel GARNETT was the son of a previous Daniel GARNETT Sr. and Elizabeth COUSINS who were married at Harwich in 1807.
Daniel GARNETT Jr. married Sarah Ann CLARK on October 20, 1834 at Dovercourt, Essex. They had seven known children including your respective great-great-grandparents:
- Elizabeth GARNETT [b. March 21, 1835]who subsequently married Thomas Turner THOMPSON in 1856. They had seven known children born between 1857 and 1877.
- William Richard GARNETT [b. February 8, 1839] who subsequently married Emily SCARLETT. They had ten children born between 1865 and 1882.
Please get in touch with me directly if you would like more details about your respective branches of the GARNETT family from Essex. I have traced most of the descendants of Daniel GARNETT and Elizabeth COUSINS and would be delighted to share with you the benefit of the research I have on file.
