I do not know where Clarence Linden Garnett is burried, but I would like to compare information with you re: his wife, Mary Wilson Garnett.
My gr-gr grandmother was Eliza Jane Garnett Gill. Eliza Jane and Mary Wilson were most likely (but I have no proof) half-sisters. Eliza Jane's father was Robert W. Garnett. His first wife, & mother of Eliza, was Polly Young in Barren Co. KY. I know that Eliza had a half-sister, Mary W. but don't know for positive that Mary W Garnett and Mary Wilson Garnett are the same persons. I also do not know the name of Mary W's mother. In the 1850 Barren Ky census Robert is listed with an Eliza.(surname for her unknown). Robert could however, how been married more than twice... Robert and Polly Garnett had Eliza Jane, Elizabeth, and James. Mary W. had two other sisters.
Do you know anything more about Mary Wilson Garnett? Mary Wilson Garnett seems to be an important key for me that links Robert W. Garnett and Alfred Hay Garnett both back to Thomas Garnett and Elizabeth Muscoe. I was able to link Robert W. & Polly Garnett into the Garnett line on Ward data base online. Mr. Ward has over 600 members of the Garnett family listed. I gave him the name Mary W.as daughter of Robert W. Mr. Ward now shows heras Mary Wilson Garnett married to Clarence Linden Garnett. I would like to hear from you or others who might know more about Mary W or Mary Wilson Garnett.
Just this week I found on the internet various tidbits about the Vawter Church on the Elmwood Plantation of the Garnett family. There is a connection to the Rutherford/Vawter families of Essex VA. Barthomew (sp?) Vawter seems to have given the land for this church. Vawter seems to have purchased part of this property from a James Rutherford. Robert Rutherford married Margaret Vawter in Essex. "Mrs. Muscoe Garnett" saved this church from destruction after the Civil War. My maiden name is Rutherford and I believe strongly that my Rutherford line goes back to this Robert Rutherford. This would then mean that my mother's and father's lines both began not only in the same state, but as close Essex Co. neighbors
