Hi Andy
Very Interested in your Garnetts, I have trawled the internet to try and locate my great great grandfather. Earlier this year I went to Portsmouth archives and found his marraige record but no ages and no fathers names, so I'm stuck.

G. G. grandfather was George Garnett, his son was George John Garnett born just before the records began in 1837, his father is listed as George on his marriage lines (To Amelia Sandercombe ) and John on the birth record for george John. George and Amelia have 4 sons between their marriage andGeorges death( date unknown)after George John there is Richard William 1840, Henry James 1842 and Thomas Edwin/Edward 1846. George John and Thomas Edwin get married the same day in St Mary's Portsmouth, both say father was a seaman. LAter there is a Marriage between Amelia Garnett a widow and George Hickman. As a young child in the 50's I remeber there was talk of Bishops Waltham family and we also used to visit Swanmore- the Bricklayers Arms. My grand mother was George Johns youngest daughter Ellen Jane Garnett (Nellie).

I feel sure theres some relationship between all the Garnett clans in Hampshire but it's finding the link.

regards
Jean
