My mother - d. 1992 - was Monica Garnett of Addingham, Yorkshire The Garnett farm is off the Skipton Rd/Ilkley Rd - next to the Walker family farm - our close family friends Both farms are still there - the Walkers still in place, I think Our farm was run after grandfather's death by Monica and her sister Katherine through WW II - with as many as 20 Eireann (Republic of Ireland) workers at harvest My grandfather Garnett had a chain of butcher shops in the immediate sub-region Relatives on mother's side included Clarksons - I knew them - my cousin Harry - a lawyer and chair of the N. England UN Association Some of the Garnett cousins emigrated to Canada - Ontario - after WW I - and are still there somewhere My direct family - the Wilsons - are from nearby Bolton Abbey - and are buried in the Abbey burial ground Originally from Scotland (Gunn Clan), they became "servants" of the Crown - indirectly - through the Duchy of Devonshire I also have a long list of Stotts with b. and d. dates written in the 1900s I live in Washington DC and have worked with the UN there since 1972, serving many years overseas - mainly in French-speaking countries My culture is English/French since early childhood Our family has a farm near Burnley, Lancashire Notify Administrator about this message?
