Hello Mr. Jones,
I am indeed the great-great granddaughter of John Pendleton Garnett, and the great grandaughter of Annie Rosa Garnett. Annie married Lerond Alembert (Bert) Downer Jr. on 22 Nov 1904 in Pembroke. You can find a notice about their wedding in the Hopkinsville Kentuckian newspaper at the Library of Congress website, Chronicling America (http://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov). Bert was an osteopathic physician. He and Annie lived for a while in Chattanooga but they were living in Pembroke when she died on 12 Dec 1936.

The Downers were from Todd Co. Ky. Bert was the grandson of John Slaughter Downer, who was among the first to develop improved varieties of strawberries. He had a nursery in Todd Co. and is mentioned in many horticultural journals which you can find on Google Books.

I look forward to hearing from you again.
