I married into the Garrs family. my ex-husband was one of six children - 3 boys 3 girls. only thing is the name is Garrs with an 's'. English family, though I've heard the really ancient origin is Viking (Danish -gorse bush. father and mother in law were both from Yorkshire, her maiden name was Tovey. lots of theories about the family but no concrete evidence, especially about the spelling. perhaps you can assist.
