Hi, Alyce,

I've been looking for Frances Matilda Garr/Gaar for some time and am still not sure who's who. However, one source I believe a family tree at Rootsweb.com says a Michael Gaar was her father. Another gave a different name for her father but listed about eight children, one named either Sarah or Fanny. Still another had two blank children (probably girls). I am also looking for the family of Sarah Garr and have long suspected she and Frances might be related.

In all this, I found three Garr/Gaar men who married Wilhoit daughters. One of Sarah's sons was Sanders Wilhite Colbert. (Sarah married Philip Philpot Colbert. They lived in Madison County, Georgia.) Frances Marilda Garr/Gaar married John Sims 10 Oct 1805 in Oglethorpe County, Georgia.

If this rings any bells with you, please let me know.

Anne
