Do not know if this is related, but will give what I know of John Davis Garrard. He wrote a now famous letter in 1892 to his cousin J.D. Barron then secretary of state for Alabama. The letter is mostly about Barrons who intermarried with Garrards. He does say his father was Hiram Garrard who died in 1871. He was born 1827 and apparently was living in GA in 1892. He named only one son, neither Marcus or John. He does not name his wife. If you find you tie into him, I can get you back at least two generations before Hiram.
