Looking through some loose papers there was a thermofax of an obit on Corbly GERARD in Muscatine Co IA. Most likely this obit was in the Muscatine Daily Journal issue of 17 AUG 1869 [Tuesday]. This obit reads as follow:
"DEATH: At Moscow.~Corbly Gerard, aged 49 years, died Saturday evening at his residence, at Moscow, of hemorrage of the lungs. For about three years he had had a hard cough, but had been able to go about. Saturday, while feeding his hogs he began coughing, which caused a rupture that bled him to death in half an hour.
The funeral service was conducted by Elder Jennings at 10 o`clock a. m., yesterday."
---------------------------------
Earlier, Corbly and his family are listed in the 1860 IA Federal Census for Muscatine Co on 07 AUG near the Goshen Twp on page 148. This census page shows Corbly as a 40 year old farmer from PA. His spouse is the former Lucinda McVICKER(S) age 38 years and born in VA.

The children listed in this census are: James [12 years age], William H. [10 years age], Amanda M. [age 07 years], and Thomas F. [04 years age]. All of these children were born in IA.
-------------------------------
The 1856 Muscatine Directory [page 60] lists: "GERARD Corbly, turner, ss Fifth w Popular". Also we have a copy of the 1856 IA State Census for Muscatine Co and Bloomington Twp [page 267] we see the following:
GERARD, Corbley [36 years], carpenter, lived in state of IA for ten years, born PA.
..................Lucinda [32 years], lived in state of IA for ten years, born VA.
..................James [08 years], born IA.
..................Harrison [06 years] born IA
..................Manda [04 years] born IA.
..................Thomas F. [01 years] born IA
---------------------------
The 1852 IA State Census on page 007 for Bloomington Twp lists:
GERARD, Corbley with three males and one female in the household. Also noted on this page is One Voter and One Militia tally.
-----------------------------
Looking at the 1850 IA Federal Census for Muscatine Co on 07 SEP near Muscatine City on page 348 we find the following noted:
GIRARD, Corbly [age 27 years], cabinet maker, born PA.
................Lucinda [age 25 years], born VA.
................John [age 06 years], born OH.
................J. F. [age 04 years], born OH.
................W. H. [age 01 year], born IA.
------------------------------
Side Note: Oddly the only other listing for GIRARD/GERARD during this timeline in Muscatine Co IA was a listing for the 1854 IA State Census for Muscatine Co near the Cedar Twp on page 047.
GERRARD, Joannas is listed with three males and one female. Also noted is One Voter and One Militia tally. We could not find Joannas listed before or after the other listings for Corbly.
--------------------------
Further Note: We know that the oldest son was John Francis. Second son was James Francis. Third son was William Harrison. Fourth son was Thomas Francis.
----------------------
We have presented this timeline to see if anyone can recognize any details that will spur a new direction on this trail of this family. Some of you old hands at following the GIRARD/GERARD folks might also see something in this data that might give rise to some sage advice as to what directions this search should go to in what area of OH much less in PA. We are definitely looking at 1818 to 1828 as far as Corbly/Corbley is concerned. Perhaps his woodworking profession might be a clue as well.

Looking forward to any comments. Thanks.
