I have a note in some papers from many years ago under the heading "VA Wills"
"James Garrard, dec'd. 1690 Stafford Co."

I was very young when I started genealogy, so I did not write down the source, but it must've been a published book of Virginia wills. The notation is in line with other items from Genealogies of Kentucky Families, Kentucky Obituaries 1787-1854, and DAR lineage books. I must've been at a library somewhere.

Were the Garrards in Stafford THAT early?
