Margaret GARY - ca 1817 France>MS>LA>MS
I am seeking information on Margaret GARY, b. 1816-1819 France; d. 9-16-1876 Holmesville, MS.Margaret m. William Thomas BROWNE (aka Thomas BROWN) 5-27-1836 in Holmesville, Pike, MS.They were living in New Orleans, LA by the time their first child was born in 1837.Thomas was b. ca 1804 in England & d. 9-16-1876.Although the other few surviving children remained in New Orleans, Margaret and her youngest child (Emma Virginia) were enumerated in the 1870 Pike Co., MS Census (residing in Holmesville). In 1880, Emma was once again residing in New Orleans, with her brother (William Thomas BROWN).
I have been unable to find anything more about Margaret after 1870, or what happened to Emma Virginia.Margaret's children were:William Thomas (b. 1837), Sarah (b. 1840), Mary (b. 1843), Louisa (b. 1845), Thomas "Oliver" (b. 1848), Winfield Scott (b. 1849), Margaret Ann (b. 1853), & Emma Virginia BROWN (b. 1857).
Everything I know about this family was obtained from an old family Bible (now lost) and from census records.I have no idea when Margaret came to America, what route brought her to MS, who her parents and siblings were, or where she and Thomas are buried.I have been told by one family member that the "old Brown home" was in the Magnolia/Bogue Chitto/Holmesville area.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
