I am still looking for information on James W. Gassaway. He married Pauline Nash and had the following daughters: Agnes Josephine (born February 1, 1919); Mary Alice; and Jimmie. Agnes was my aunt.

In 1900 I found a census entry in Anderson County, SC for William (A.?) Gasaway, born 8-1854 in SC; wife Lottie, born 7-1862 in SC; children Betta (Etta ?), age 14 born GA; Maggie, age 12 born GA; Cora age 9 born GA; Jobe (?) age 7 born GA; and James age 5 born 12-1894 in GA. The entries were very hard to read.

In the World War I Draft Registrations, I found a James William Gassaway living in Newton Co., GA. He states he was born in Cobb Co., GA December 24, 1894. His registration is dated June 5, 1917, and he states that he was single on that date.

I also found record of the death of a James Gassoway in San Joaquin, CA on September 14, 1964. This person was born in GA. This record showed his mothers maiden name as Shadrack.

I found another query on this board who asked about William Gassaway and Lottie Chadwick (Shadrack).

If anyone has any information about this family, please let me hear from you.

Thanks,

Ann
