Okay , Got to rewind a little bit , Capt. Charles Gassaway Born Anne Arundle County died before Dec 11, 1816 in pleasant hill, Montgomery county Md. . My family was from Montgomery county also , John Hanson Gassaway Sr. Jr. John Hanson Gassaway For some reason Our family's sold off their land in annapolis Anne Arundle Co. area & moved to Montgomery county. maybe land was bad from growing tobacco for so long . Tobacco was our family's cash crop & we imported it back to the old world ( England ) in 1960 an acre of tobacco netted close to $2000.00 if it was of good weight ! But it drains the soil terribly of nutrients & after awhile 100 years or so .The soil is not good for much of anything ! This was before Both of our Ancestor John Hanson Gassaway & Cousins of Capt.Charles Gassaway (Gassaway Family ) & others In Montgomery & German town - Howard Co.- Baltimore county. The Gassaway's Bought up more land. We spread out from each other sadly ! & lost contact ! before the civil war The Gassaway's were a close family , We were very, very wealthy from years of Tobacco sales to England. I will ask some distant relations of mine who Know this a bit better then I do . who are your. You are related to the Warfields , the Dorsey's & some others also . But you & I are Definitely cousins ! My Grand father William G. Gassaway was a Lawyer for C&P & He lived in Baltimore County . He was also a member of the Maryland House of Deli gets from 1933 to 1937 he unfortunately died from the effects of smoking Tobacco !! Kind of Ironic isn't it ! I never got to meet him sadly. I wish I could have lived the life that my father did . For he was truly born with the silver spoon. He lived in a manor House in a Very secluded Wealthy neighbor hood. My Grate grandfathers House in Ellicot city Md. Over looking the Patapsco River, Ellicot city Md. My father was John D. Gassaway I am 100 percent Gassaway !
