Herman Gassen b. 1813, & Nicolas Gassen b. 1819
RE: Herman Gassen & Nicolas Gassen and all variant spellings of given and surname
I'm hoping for some clues to pop up some day on Herman Gassen b. 1813, & Nicolas Gassen b. 1819.Both arrived at New York in August 1842 with their family (mother Anna, sisters Margarethe, Anna Gertrude; brothers John, Joseph, and Michael; sister's family Anna Maria Gassen Diederichs and husband Joseph).Based on two death records, the family originated "near Coblenz." The family spent some time in the Detroit area prior to moving to the Milwaukee area about 1845-46.Their father's name _may_ have been Jacob, and their mother's maiden name _may_ have been some spelling of "Heusen."
Neither Herman or Nicolaus are mentioned in later probate files detailing the disbursement of estates.
