I can confirm that the Gately surname is indeed a very common name in the south Roscommon region in Ireland. The Gately name is very common in Dysart and Curraghboy.

Dolan is also a very common name in these areas. A very detailed study and report has been done on the Gately family by an American man (William Patrick Gately <gatelywp@theriver.com> )
